Dongsung Finetec’s Energy Insulation business focuses on PU (polyurethane) and cryogenic insulation materials. Based on our proprietary
technologies and system house capabilities, we produce and sell foam and non-foam PU to meet the growing demand for energy transport
such as LNG transportation and storage. In particular, we became the first in Korea to localize cryogenic insulation materials essential for LNG
transportation and storage, and we now supply them to LNG receiving terminals and vessels. Meanwhile, our Industrial Material business
focuses on minimizing environmental impacts of its manufacturing processes.
Dongsung Finetec Co., Ltd. is researching and developing R-PUF products using HFO-based blowing agents to offer insulation materials that
meet global climate change response requirements. In addition, through our recycling business utilizing reclaimed refrigerants, we recover and
reuse fluorinated refrigerants, contributing to tangible reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
In line with market demands for safe and efficient insulation technologies, Dongsung Finetec provides insulation solutions and cryogenic
insulation materials for the stable and efficient transportation of various fuels, including LNG and LPG. Moreover, we are proactively responding
to demand for low- and zero-carbon fuel-powered vessels, including ammonia-fueled vessels and the liquefied hydrogen sector. Based on our
accumulated technological capabilities and innovation capacity, Dongsung Finetec delivers sustainable value and practical solutions in the
energy transport sector.
LNG is recognized as a key fuel for the transition to eco-friendly
solutions due to its lower greenhouse-gas emissions, high
thermal efficiency, and transport efficiency. Dongsung Finetec
became the first in Korea to localize cryogenic insulation
materials essential for LNG transportation and supply them to
domestic and global shipbuilders. In addition, we possess the
technological capabilities to reliably maintain extreme conditions
of -163°C or lower. Our cryogenic insulation materials are
applied to LNG carriers and transfer pipes, enabling the safe and
efficient transport of LNG and providing sustainable solutions in
the energy market.

LPG is widely used in daily life for fueling automobiles, heating,
and cooking. Since its volume is reduced to around one-250th
when liquefied, it is highly economical for long distance marine
transport. Dongsung Finetec provides tank insulation solutions
for LPG carriers to support the safe and efficient marine
transportation of LPG.

As regulations aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from maritime transport and protecting the ozone layer get increasingly stringent, there is growing demand for low-carbon materials in LNG cargo containment. Going beyond seeking just market competitiveness, we are
actively responding to global environmental regulations by evolving the blowing agents used in our insulation products. Specifically, we have
progressively transitioned from hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC)-based blowing agents to those based on hydrofluorocarbon (HFC), and
subsequently to those based on hydrofluoroolefin (HFO). We continue our R&D efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our products
while meeting evolving regulatory requirements. Since the mid-2010s, we have been developing R-PUF products using HFO blowing agents to
proactively respond to regulatory changes. Through these efforts, we provide products that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions
and ozone-depleting substance use.
[HFO Type R&D Roadmap]

In addition, GTT, the world's leading designer of LNG cargo containment systems, has discontinued approvals for conventional HFC-based
reinforced polyurethane foam (R-PUF) and shifted its technical policy toward expanding the use of HFO-based blowing agents with a lower
Global Warming Potential (GWP). In response, we are advancing the development and broader application of HFO-based R-PUF products. To
further strengthen the environmental credibility of our products, we obtained third-party verification of our HFO-based R-PUF products'
carbon footprint assessment results. Going forward, we will continue to adopt materials with lower GWP and enhance our environmental
impact verification framework. Such efforts will expedite the low-carbon transition of the LNG value chain and the development of a more
sustainable maritime transport industry.
[Third-Party Carbon Footprint Verification Status]
Verification Body | Product Type | Carbon Footprint | Third-Party Validation Statement |
|---|---|---|---|
DNV Business Assurance Korea | HFC R-PUF | 88.62tCO2eq/ton | |
HFO R-PUF | 59.72tCO2eq/ton |
Ethane is a widely used energy source and a key feedstock for the global petrochemical industry. Given its high flammability, ethane requires
exceptional structural integrity for safe storage and transportation. Leveraging its advanced technologies, Dongsung Finetec supports the safe
and efficient storage and transportation of ethane.

Leveraging our polyurethane technologies, we provides tailored solutions across diverse sectors, including construction, refrigerants, and industrial materials. By improving energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption, we are evolving into a trusted partner for a more sustainable future across industries and everyday life. From the manufacturing and trading of foam and non-foam polyurethane systems to the recycling of refrigerants and fire extinguishing agents, we are strengthening the supply chain for materials with lower GWP and contributing to a more
responsible future.
Leveraging its long-standing technological expertise and manufacturing experience, Dongsung Finetec
provides polyurethane solutions tailored to various industries, including construction materials and appliance
insulation components. Beyond the supply of standard products, we design customized systems (One-Stop
PU Solutions) optimized to meet customer needs and end-use applications. These systems precisely
respond to a wide range of material properties, including processability, heat resistance, and structural
integrity, thereby enhancing both efficiency and product quality. In addition, we actively identify sustainable
business areas and respond proactively to global regulatory changes. With a “system house” capable of
supplying raw materials through proprietary technologies, Dongsung Finetec produces and sells in-demand
and non-foam polyurethane systems demanded by the market. As a leading company supported by a strong
R&D workforce and advanced technological capabilities, we continue to respond to emerging markets. PU
systems, customized according to end-use applications and production environments, already have track
records of proven applications across various industries. In the construction sector, we supply high-
performance insulation materials designed for diverse building environments, including semi-incombustible
PF boards (Hugreen) produced by our affiliate D&K Chemtech, as well as urethane boards. With excellent
thermal insulation performance and structural strength, these materials are applicable to a wide range of
structures, from multifunctional buildings to conventional commercial facilities. The polyurethane market
continues to expand in line with industrial development and rising income levels, while ongoing efforts in
new product development continue to create opportunities for emerging markets.

Dongsung Finetec is expanding its business into alternative and next-generation refrigerants, while promoting a recycling business tha
recovers and purifies used refrigerants such as R22, R134a, and R410A, to enhance sustainability. We are progressively expanding our
next-generation refrigerant portfolio in response to market demand and evolving environmental regulations, supplying products
applicable to refrigeration, freezing, and HVAC systems. In particular, our waste refrigerant recovery and purification operations based on
high-purity refining technologies and stringent quality control systems promote resource circulation and contribute to greenhouse gas
emissions reduction and ozone layer protection. Beyond the supply of materials, we grow together with our customers as a partner in
building a more sustainable business environment. Amid tightening international regulations, the Company provides total refrigerant
solutions across industries, supplying high-purity refrigerant products applicable not only to HVAC, cold chain, and industrial refrigeration
systems, but also to data center cooling applications, which are experiencing growing demand. In response to strengthened international
regulations on freon and changing market conditions, we have established an alternative refrigerant portfolio that balances
environmental performance with business continuity, while maintaining a stable supply chain in collaboration with global partners. We
support our customers in responding flexibly to evolving environmental regulations and advancing their transition toward sustainable
refrigerants.
